How your organization can leverage push technology to create lifetime customers that consistently give you money.

To push an idea or viewpoint on someone can cause problems. Nobody wants to have anything pushed on him or her. Pushy people annoy us. We get ticked when someone pushes us in line. How could pushing anything be good? If you are a retailer or manufacturer, pushing can drive your sales through the roof! Enter push technology.

So that you understand the concept of the term push technology, let me break it down for you.

Push technology is information and news, updated over time and transmitted by request to a computer user.

One of the things that I want you to focus on now is the phrase "transmitted by request to a computer user" People go to the Internet because they are proactively looking for information to solve a problem or take care of a need. As well as looking for news on topics, that is of interest to them. When they find that information or news and it is good, more than likely they will want to get more of it. If there is a way for that person to request updated information and news, it can be transmitted to that person's computer. In addition, that information and news can be transmitted for little or no cost.

Now let us say a potential customer finds your website or hears about your company somehow. They like what they see but more than likely, they are not going to write you a check on the first look. A relationship needs to cultivate and grow. It is like when see a hot guy or girl; you like what you see but more than likely you are not going to go home with them on the first look. Some type of relationship needs to cultivate and grow.

So based on a relationship built over time, prospects will eventually turn into customers after they are educated about your product and company. How do you build this relationship? You give that person the opportunity to request updated information to be transmitted to their computer. If you supply this person information once a month or once a quarter, a relationship will start to build. Before you know it, bam! you have a new customer or a check in the mail. Neat concept, huh?

Now pay close attention here. The oldest and most widely used push technology is e-mail. Every time you send e-mail, you are "pushing" information or news to someone. Now are you starting to get the picture? Get people to request information or news updates about your company and use a push technology such as e-mail to supply the news or information to those people. The more they know you, the easier it is to get them to send you a check.
